Basic Paraglide license course

Become a pilot after 35 flights under expert instructional guidance. The course covers thorough lectures on paragliding theory and meteorology. We provide all needed paragliding equipment and learning material for the duration of the course with no hidden costs. After completing your flight requirements and basic license exam, you will be awarded with your SAHPA basic national pilots license.

Become a competent and safe paragliding pilot with Paraglide Africa. We offer  full time paragliding instructional courses in South Africa. The courses run during the best flyable weather of the year ensuring you to complete your course in the given time frame.  You will complete a minimum of 35 instructional flights and write an open book test to become a registered SAHPA pilot.

The basic license course includes the following:

  • Paragliding theory classes
  • Practical training sessions
  • Maximum 5 instructional tandem flights
  • Training Manual
  • 6 month temporary student license
  • Minimum 35 solo flights
  • Site recovery transport for course duration
  • Briefing and de-briefing sessions daily
  • Assistance in equipment purchase
  • Post course guidance and assistance


Full time courses is hosted over a period of 8-14 days(weather dependant) . During this period all theoretical and practical requirements will be met, however if you are not competent and/or confident enough after the course, your SAHPA student license is valid for 6 months and additional training and guidance will be offered where needed. Also students who cannot attend 14 consecutive days, may complete the course within a 6 month period by pre-arrangement with the school.
